How public-private partnerships can build resilience

Date
Time (GMT +01) 14:00 15:30

Description

The Humanitarian Policy Group and the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Risk and Resilience is holding the launch of the World Economic Forum study, “Building Resilience in Nepal through Public–Private Partnerships” on 16 October 2015.

Disasters can have a devastating effect on people, homes, industries and the wider economy. Complex crises cannot be solved by governments alone. This report explores how public-private partnerships can increase resilience to hazards and risks, including for crucial economic sectors such as tourism and construction.

This event brings together leading private sector, humanitarian and disaster risk reduction specialists to discuss how to strengthen partnerships between the public and private sector to improve responses and resilience to future emergencies. It draws on research conducted on the response to the 2015 Nepal earthquake, with conclusions for the wider global community.

Speakers include leading representatives of Willis, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Humanitarian Policy group and Build Change.

This launch is kindly hosted at Willis, and will be followed by a networking reception starting at 3:30 pm GMT+1. The event is invite only, but if you would like to attend please register your interest with HPG at [email protected].
